Date of Incident: 11 January 2006
On January 11, 2006 Officer Gregory Seibert of the Southwestern Regional Police stopped a car on RT616 just south of York New Salem for a traffic violation. Officer Seibert conducted a search of the vehicle after observing mail that did not belong to the persons in the vehicle. Police recovered approximately 150 pieces of stolen US Mail that was removed from 23 different North Codorus residences. Police found drug paraphernalia, Marijuana and Psilocybin Mushrooms in the vehicle as well.
The three men in the vehicle were James J Smith (18 years of age), Bradley Caslow (19 years of age) and Gregory Wonder (30 years of age). All three were charged for Narcotics and Paraphernalia violations. All three of the men were from the Spring Grove area. They will be prosecuted federally for the theft of United States mail. The Mail Theft investigation has been turned over to the US Postal inspector’s office -Harrisburg.
Persons who were victims of recent mail theft, who have not yet filed a complaint with either police or the U.S. Postal Authority, should contact the Post Office in their area or Southwestern Regional Police Dept., to report the incident.
