Date of Incident: 17 January 2008
Time of Incident: 8:33pm

On 01/17/08 at approximately 2033 hrs., North Codorus Twp. Fire (along with multiple other stations) and the Southwestern Regional Police were dispatched by York County Control to 129 Rustique Drive in North Codorus Township for an odor of smoke in a trailer home.

When emergency personnel arrived, there were flames in the rear of the structure. Eventually the entire structure sustained fire and smoke damage. The only resident, Elizabeth Stermer age 80, did escape and was treated for smoke inhalation at the scene. Her neighbor Scott Spanger of Country Ridge Drive was also treated for smoke inhalation after hearing the fire call on his home scanner and coming to Stermer’s aid. Stermer will be staying with family.  It is believed the fire started in a clothes dryer vent. The State Police Fire Marshal has been called in to investigate.
