Time of Incident: 0645hrs
Two persons were killed as a result of the crash and they are as follows:
W/F Andrea Neiderer, DOB 05-15-67, 5000 block of Arnold Rd., Glenville, PA; and her son, W/M Blaise Neiderer, DOB 10-05-98, same address.
The details of the crash are as follows:
The Neiderer’s were alone in their ’97, Subaru vehicle traveling in a westbound direction. They traveled across a large patch of ice in the roadway which cause their vehicle to swerve to the left and into the eastbound lane of travel. A second vehicle, ac ’97 Chev. p/u truck, which was eastbound, struck the right side of the Neiderer vehicle. The second vehicle was driven by W/M Gerald Shue, DOB 09-30-56, 800 blk. of Blooming Grove Rd., Hanover. Mr. Shue was transported to York Hospital and was released after his injuries were treated which consisted of contusions and lacerations. A third vehicle then struck the rear of the Shue vehicle. Minor damage was caused to the third vehicle and no injuries resulted.
The roadway was closed to all traffic for six (6) hours as the police department is conducting an extensive accident reconstruction of the incident. Those results will be available in several weeks. No charges are pending at this time.
Ms. Neiderer was employed with the South Western School (Hanover) in the transportation department as a driver and was well known by the many children that she provided service to. Her son was a 1st grade student at Manheim Elementary School. The School District is providing counseling to the many students that have been affected by this incident.
