Time of Incident: 1507hrs

Southwestern Regional Police and local EMS were dispatched to the Codorus State Park on Rt216 in the area of Sinsheim Rd , for an ice fisherman that fell through the ice.  John Soltes of Spring Grove PA was ice fishing when the ice gave way and he fell through. A passing truck driver radioed to fellow truck driver Dave Barnhart of Abbottstown that there was a man that fell through the ice. Barnhart pulled into to the La-ho trail parking lot and called 911. Barnhart then grabbed the ice rescue tool and rescued Soltes from the freezing waters.  Soltes was not injured.  Other emergency responders that assisted were Penn Twp Dive Team, Jefferson Fire Department and the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.
