The Southwestern Regional Police Department is investigating a aggravated assault incident that occurred in North Codorus township on Sunday the 1st of February 2004.

A North Codorus Township woman told police her estranged husband backed his truck over her in the driveway Sunday night, pulled her from under the truck and then drove away, leaving her in the driveway.
Southwestern Regional Police said Larry J. Eichelberger, 57, now of the 600 block of Middle Street in Hanover, was in his truck arguing with 45-year-old Cathy S. Eichelberger outside her Bentz Road home about 6 p.m. Sunday when she climbed into the truck’s passenger seat.

She told police her husband then got out of the truck, came to where she was sitting and pulled her out. She fell under the truck.

Larry Eichelberger then climbed back into the driver’s seat and backed over his wife with the truck’s right front tire, according to his arrest affidavit in District Justice James Miner’s office.

Before driving away, Eichelberger got out of the truck, moved his wife to the side of the driveway and then drove away, according to his affidavit.

Five and half hours later, Cathy Eichelberger regained consciousness and then drove herself to York Hospital. She is being treated for a lacerated liver, and bruises on her right arm and chest, police said.

She remained in serious condition Tuesday in York Hospital’s intensive care unit, the spokesman said.

Hanover Police accompanied Southwestern Regional Police on Monday to arrest Larry Eichelberger at his workplace in a home improvement center in Hanover. His truck was confiscated for processing.
