Date of Incident: 14 February 2008
Time of Incident: 9:00pm
At 9:00 PM on 02-14-08, Ofr.’s were dispatched to a
residence in the 3000 blk. of Skyview Dr., Glenville, Manheim Twp.
for a 42 year-old male that had taken a lethal dose of prescription
medication and then ran from the home.
The subject ran into a wooded/field area and was described as
not wearing winter type clothing in subfreezing temperatures.
Ofr.’s soon realized that the area to be checked
was too great with current personnel and gained assistance from the
following agencies: Jefferson Fire, Lineboro (MD) Fire, Pleasant Hill Fire,
Southern York County Forest Fire Crew, Maryland State Police Helicopter,
Manheim EMA, and four search
dogs from the Mason-Dixon Search Dogs and from the Pleasant Hill Fire .
Searchers covered over a mile square area when at
12:30 AM on Feb. 15, 2008, the male was located as he walked back to the
vicinity of his home.
He was eluding searchers in the vicinity of his home.
He regurgitated the medication and was suffering from the
cold but otherwise in fairly healthy condition.
He was taken to Hanover Hospital for a medical and
a mental health evaluation.
We were pleased with the combined effort of over 50
volunteers from MD and PA that assisted our agency with this case.
