The Southwestern Regional Police Department is investigating a motor vehicle accident that occurred this date at 1132 hours on Salem Road in North Codorus Township. 

Timothy Fake (23) of Spring Grove, Pa was operating a 1995 Mack tri-axle dump truck westbound on Salem Road.  As Fake approached the Old Joseph Road intersection, he encountered a 2005 Sterling tractor trailer pulling into the roadway.  The tractor trailer was being operated by Gary Gregory (63) of York, Pa.  The intersection was being controlled by two flag man assisting Gregory onto the roadway.  Fake applied the brakes but was unable to stop.  Fake struck the rear of Gregory’s vehicle.  Fake then ran off the roadway, hit a culvert and over turned.  The dump truck lost its load of dirt and spilled diesel fuel and hydraulic fluid onto the roadway.  It took crews several hours to clear the roadway.  A specially trained Southwestern Regional officer was called to the scene to do a DOT commercial vehicle inspection.  That inspection revealed the dump truck had several faulty brakes.  Fake received minor injuries.  He was treated and released from York Hospital.  The accident is still under investigation.  Officer Jeffrey Knouse investigating.
