In June of 2008, the victim in this case, David Meckley, 56 YOA, Stoverstown Rd., Spring Grove, North Codorus Twp., advised this department that he provided funding to a General Contractor called “Anything Goes Construction & Remodeling,” of Harrisburg, PA, to build a private residence for him in North Codorus Twp.  The home construction began but was stopped before the completion of the structure.  The victim realized that the general contractor was not paying the subcontractors on the job-site.

The investigation that was done by our department revealed that the owner of the general contracting firm, Dwayne Thomas Gilbert, 39 YOA, Roberts Valley Rd., Harrisburg, PA, was not paying the persons doing the work on the home.  Much of the funding paid to him was retained by him and not dispersed as it should have been.  Losses to the victim totaled approximately $35,000.  The house will be completed by another firm.

Charges were filed on Gilbert for (1) Theft by Failure to make Required Disposition of Funds (Fel.), and Receiving Stolen Property (Fel.).  The defendant turned himself in to MDJ Leppo’s Office on 09-22-08.  Court proceedings are pending.
