Police Officer was bitten by a suspect after foot chase.

On the above date and time, officers observed teh defendant, W/M, Steven Daniel Ross, 27 YOA, Hanover PA address walking along Rt 116 at Rt 516, Spring Grove, in North Codorus Twp. The defendant requested a ride. Officers determined that Ross had an active warrant for his arrest from Baltimore County, MD (the warrant was for uttering false documents).

When officers advised Ross that he was under arrest, Ross ran northbound onto PH Glatfelters property (near a body of water at that location) and into a wooded area. Officers chased him on foot and caught him several hundred yards later. He fought with officers and eventually bit one officer on the hand. Ross was subdued with pepper spray and was taken into custody with the assistance of several other officers who assisted.

Both the defendant and the officer that was bitten (Ofr. Lindenmuth of this department) were treated and released from York Hospital. Ross was remanded to the York County Prison on charges of Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer, Escape, and Resisting Arrest.
