Accident/Traffic Hazard

On March 10, 2010 at approximately 2:07pm, the York Co. 911 Center began receiving calls about a tractor trailer loosing its load while traveling east bound on Rt. 116, in North Codorus Twp.  Southwestern Regional officers responded and intercepted the vehicle near the Rt. 516 intersection.  Officers found the tractor trailer was hauling wood chips.  It was discovered the trailer had split in half allowing the chips to spill.  Un-aware, the driver continued down the road until stopped by the officers.  Approximately 2,000 lbs of wood chips were spilled in the east bound lane of Rt. 116 between Ambau Road and Rt. 516.  Penn DOT crews were called to clear the roadway of the debris.  The driver of the truck was Wayne Ruhlman of Culpepper, VA.  The tractor trailer is owned by Augusta Lumber LLC of Waynesboro, VA.
