Victim W/M Joseph R. Higgins, 300 blk N. Pine Ave, Spring Grove, PA DOB 03/15/36

A two-vehicle crash occurred on 9 December 2005 in the Borough of Spring Grove. One of the drivers in the crash died as a result of those injuries on 21 December 2005.

On Friday 9 December 2005, the victim was driving southbound, alone in his vehicle, in the 300 blk of North Main St in Spring Grove. There was still snow on the road surface from the previous evening's snowfall. The victim began to slide on the snow which caused his vehicle to turn to the left, and crossed the northbound land of travel.

The victim's vehicle was struck by a northbound vehicle driven by Mary Wickline of Hamstead, MD. The victim's vehicle was struck on the front right side. Mr Higgins has been at York Hospital and unconscious since the crash. The York County Coroners Office has listed the cause of death as "Blunt Force Trauma". Mr Higgins was not utilizing the vehicle's seat restraint system at the time of the crash.

No charges are pending in this crash investigation.
